Credit monitoring is an important tool that can be used to help protect from identity theft and credit fraud. There are many companies out there, including the credit bureaus themselves, that can help you to monitor your credit. United Logistics Funding LLC is one of those companies that claims that they can monitor your credit and provide services that will be able to remove inaccuracies or negative information like charge-offs and bankruptcies. But they have been known to do more damage to their customer’s credit than they do to help. They have been accused of identity theft and fraud from many of their customers and have had four complaints just this year to the consumer financial protection bureau. They market themselves aggressively to customers that are desperate to improve their credit and make wild promises that they can remove inaccurate information as well as negative information on your report that is accurate. They use very aggressive sales tactics that convince prospective customers to share their sensitive credit information with them and sign up for expensive monthly memberships that promise unrealistic results in a very short time frame. United Funding Logistic LLC is a company that preys on hard working Americans desperate to improve their situation. In almost all cases, United Funding Logistics LLC puts their customers in even worse positions than where they started.
CEO of United Funding Logistics LLC, Brian Wilson, is a known con artist and fraudster. He is a master at the art of manipulation and is excellent at seizing upon an opportunity that will allow him the ability to operate without fear of regulation. While credit is strictly regulated by regulations like Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Regulation Z (Truth in Lending), and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, credit monitoring and repair services are rarely governed. This has created a vacuum where predatory companies like United Funding Logistics LLC can aggressively market themselves and defraud their customers without any fear of punishment. Wilson’s team is comprised mainly of salespeople, whom he calls credit analysts, that complete the initial assessment where a membership is recommended to callers. These memberships promise 24/7 access to their team of credit analysts, unlimited inaccurate information removal, unlimited removal of negative information like bankruptcies or charge-offs, and access to in-house counsel and attorneys. You can get all of this and more for a monthly membership that begins with a $175 initiation fee and negotiated monthly membership fees beyond that. These memberships can be extremely tricky to cancel and usually can’t be cancelled until after the member spends more than $1000 in membership fees. Members quickly find out that, despite being promised 24/7 access to credit analysts, there can be very difficult to get a hold of.
What makes a business, like United Funding Logistics LLC, so dangerous is that they have a business model that specifically preys on people that have a genuine need to improve their financial situation. While CEO Brian Wilson would like you to believe that credit reporting and history is 80% behavior, many people who have found themselves in poor credit situations have little to do with irresponsible spending behaviors and more to do with difficult life events like a hospitalization, a divorce, or death in the family. Many prospective customers have been impacted by identity theft. Most customers do not have the knowledge or the time to fix their credit. In fact, victims of identity theft can spend hundreds of hours to repair their credit as it is not a quick process. Promises of quick repairs and credit improvements are very attractive to consumers who need their credit to look better to either obtain better lending or insurance rates, purchase a car or home, or even rent an apartment. Preying on the desperate avails United Funding Logistics to make easy sales and obligate their customers to expensive monthly memberships that prevent them from making any progress on trade lines that could be paid off if customers were receiving competent advice from true credit analysts. They also keep these customers in poor credit situations which lead them to believe that they still need credit repair services. There is also a value for predatory companies to have access to sensitive information like credit reporting and history that can lead to keeping their customers obligated to them for fear of this information being made public and being used for extortion.
United Funding Logistics LLC currently has an F rating from the Better Business Bureau. Even more concerning, they have chosen to no longer respond or address complaints filed with the BBB. Customers filing complaints against United Funding Logistics support many of the concerns addressed above. The team at United Funding Logistics LLC makes little progress on behalf of their customers and their services fall well short of what was promised. Customers note how challenging it is to get in contact with anyone at the company. When customers call to discuss their credit report or to cancel they are referred to email the company. When a customer emails the company they are told that they must email the company. The confusion, especially with regards to cancellation or refunds, is intentional. By design, United Funding Logistics LLC want to make it as difficult as possible to either cancel their account or get a refund back even though many customers claim that they were provided with a money back guarantee on the services. On the Better Business Bureau website you can also see Brian Wilson’s aggressive response to complaints demonstrating his ill-tempered attempts to respond to well documented allegations against his company.
In addition to complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau, complaints have been filed against United Funding Logistics LLC to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau was created back in 2009 in response to protect borrowers from companies intent on predatory lending and unfair business practices. Complaints made to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau must be addressed in a timely fashion and can result in significant penalties. United Funding Logistics LLC has had four complaints filed against them just this year. It may be an important development that customers are bringing the practices of Mr. Wilson’s company to light. There is hope that these fraudsters will finally face some kind of penalty for what they do to customers or, at the very least, be shut down. If you have been a victim, or are currently being victimized by United Funding Logistics LLCS or a company like it, you have the power to submit your complaint directly to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. You can file your complaint here.
Sales personnel with United Funding Logistics LLC, also known as credit analysts, upon initiating your membership will ask you to fill out a power of attorney to allow them to manage your credit information on your behalf. This is an incredibly risky ask and could potentially authorize fraudsters to create credit accounts in your name. What United Funding Logistics LLC is asking of you is fraud and you should not allow them authorization in any way to your credit. As noted above, credit repair and management can be done for free and, in most cases, without the need of an ntermediary. While it may seem time consuming to manage your credit report yourself, it will save you thousands of dollars and will give you the peace of mind in knowing that you are not allowing fraudsters access to personal information. You can find information on how to view, manage, and correct inaccuracies on your credit report at the Federal Trade Commission Website. Stay away from fraudsters like Brian Wilson and United Funding Logistics LLC.
